Thanks Scott,
Sorry, had a senior moment with my last post .. meant to say set your clocks an hour FORWARD!

Also remember to stay on the field with your beasts to gather around the stage from 4pm for a chance to win the raffle ... one big prize ... $1000! Have to be present to be a winner.
But if all you guys leave early ... increases my chances! Yes!! HA!
Cheers.

Thanks Ken,

I'm getting excited.

Just got rid of a pile of teenagers that "slept" over and kept me up all night for my eldest 16th birthday party. Time for a nanna nap!

But now with them gone I can start packing the car for camping.

Agree the kombi cruise sounds great for a meet up.

Its good when we line up we can have a chat before the cruise gets going.

See you on the weekend.

Cheers,

Scott

Hi Old Bar Festival syncro nutters attending,

Well it's almost here! Weathers looking pretty damn good too!

Attached is the recently released Festival program and layout plan to download, print and bring along for ready reference.

Much the same as we did last year, may I suggest that yourselves and all other syncros attending might like to take the opportunity to meet & greet with fellow syncro owners during the course of the Festival.

1st opp would be the kombi tagalong on Saturday to East Taree and return, all kombis assembling on the airstrip from say 3.30pm, departing 4.10pm as per Festival program. Make a separate line on the airstrip from the splitties and bays ... expect there'll be quite a few lines!

2nd opp would be for all of us to assemble on Sunday from 8am on the parking space outside the entry gate to the oval, then enter and park as a group at say 8.30am. I believe we managed upwards of 13-14 syncros last year, hoping to do better this time round.

Remember we lose an hours sleep with daylight saving commencing 2am Sunday morning ... set clocks back before bedtime.

Any questions, feel free to reply, text or mobile me anytime on 0413232607.
Cheers.
Ken

Hi all,
I'm looking to sell off a few bits and pieces, if anyone's heading to Old bar and is interested let me know and I can bring them down.

Queen size mattress custom built from 100mm, high density foam in two pieces to fit a T2 (will fit a T3 also) The two pieces Velcro together.
Queen size self inflating mattress (fits nicely in a T3), Oztrail brand only used once
Also have a piece of foam (not covered) cut to fit behind the seat (above engine) of a T2
VW Beetle pedal car (made from tin), only good for very small kids. Could do with a few repairs, but is functional
Old heavy canvas tent that attaches to a van (has a door setup for access to sliding door). Great tent in good condition, but the floor is worn thin and tearing at the edges.

If anyone's interested I can put up more details/photo's etc. I can post prices if required, but really just want to move these on.

Hi Paul, was great to meet you, and catch up with the rest of the Syncro crew, another good turn out!

Ken, thanks again for all the effort organising, much appreciated! It's a big job, but glad you put the effort in! We had a great week end. Maybe next year I can spread the trip out offer a few more days :).

A couple of stops we made for future reference

https://www.google.com/maps/place/11+Redbox+Cres,+Sandy+Beach+NSW+2456/@-30.1525296,153.1950931,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x6b9bf549c10be5cf:0x37afa7875f9b1d71!8m2!3d-30.1525306!4d153.1956474

There is a little access road there between two houses, good for an over night stop and the beach with toilets etc only a block away.

Stop on the way home not as good

There was no camping allowed at my original target

(shark bay picnic area)

We did go there in the morning, nice picnic area with a toilet and not a lot of people, had the birds eating out of our hands there! The beach was nice and very calm water for a swim, not the best beach I have been to but good enough foru s.

I ended up parking just off the road near the bridge

It's not signed, just a little access track the locals use to launch small boats from, not the nicest spot, but was quiet and better than a highway rest stop!

hope you all had a safe trip home. Ours was uneventful except for the mad traffic for end of the long week end, a 3hr trip home took us 6.5!!!  Maybe we shouldn't have stayed so long on the beach in the morning.

Richard

That spot is on the ESK river. The Mozzies would carry you away in Summer!

I can imagine it would be, was fine for us this time. Was an improvised location when there was no camping signs at the park. Might have to fine something else next time,

Thanks for the photo,

Just checking my eyes are correct is that a single Cab Syncro? looks like a great turn out of Syncro Vans.

Thanks,

Hi Leighton,

No your eyes aren't deceiving you - Seems Rosco has upgraded his old single cab to a single cab syncro.

It was an awesome syncro turnout.

Cheers,

Scott

Yes it is a single cab syncro ... I believe it can be bought ... at the "right" price!

Much appreciated Nils!!

Richard

Just found two videos of this 2019 Old Bar Beach VW Festival … syncro alley.

Who videoed them? What a great line-up! 1st video … title a tad optimistic!

Wondering … hhhmmmmmmmm … possible ever again?

and:

They are excellent memories.

I’m definitely heading up to Old Bar this year but I doubt we will get that many syncros there this year - maybe in the next couple of years?

It was an awesome turnout when the show was going strength to strength before it was totally destroyed by Covid

A few pics also of same 2019 Old Bar Festival for those who weren’t there.

Nice dry covid free memories there Ken.

Not sure if I will get there this year. If I do I’m thinking of heading out to Barrington Tops or similar the week beforehand to make it a nice round trip.
That said, looks like there are quite a few closures in place in Barrington at the moment due to damage.

Agree Richard,

The rain seems to keep coming here so I would envisage a lot of mud on the sides of your van afterwards!

Same up here Scott, my back yard has been a slushy mess all year, and not signs of it drying out yet.
Nothing wrong with a few mud stains on a Syncro

Hi Richard. The rain is relentless. Had more the past few days. I have had my Syncro up to Barrington Tops. Its beautiful up there but can get very cold. At least you can have a fire. We went West from there and had a a great time out there on the plains.
Cheers, Peter
