Achleitner - the new SDP?

Hi Folks

It's here at last.

Had a great trip home from Sydney . This thing just wafts along on the open road. Set the cruise control at 110 and nothing stops it. The only way you can tell it's going uphill is to look at the fuel consumption read-out. Did nearly 1000Km and used nearly 100litres. Hopefully that will improve as it is run in.  Biggest problem was lots of bugs to clean off my nice new front. This showed up one disadvantage over the Syncro. I can’t reach most of the windscreen to clean it. And there is no bumper to stand on.

Should be able to get some pictures to post on the weekend.

For Victorian members, I am planning to go to the VWCV Concourse at Arthur’s Seat on 27/5.  Any-one else?   Oh, and there’s the (VWCV) club meeting at Ray’s Outdoors, Nunawading next Tuesday (from 6pm, although I can’t get there till 7). You don’t need to be a VWCV member and you’ll get 20% off most purchases.

Happy travels,

The atacama was a prototype/study object, but since the reactions were very enthousiastic, they decided to make a limited number of (i think) 100 cars.

Hi Brian,
Glad you got it home safely as I want to come round and see it. Regarding the windscreen - doesn't it have a foot hole in the bumper each side put there to solve this problem?
Cheers
Roger
