Interesting read. Wonder if the PTO's mentioned were used for anything. Might be good for an air compressor or generator, or maybe a hydraulic pump to drive a winch. Wonder what HP they were rated to.
Hi Richard, interesting indeed but we need to find out first what rpm it relates too. That's why my Porsche tractors had 2 Ptos one for say  a driven trailer axle and the other one driven by the engine, normally 540 rpm for implements,

Yes, would be nice to find out a little more. Looking at the location (looks like part of front nose cone as mentioned) I assume it would not handle a lot of torque. I wonder it if affects the ability to use a decoupler also?

I'm sure it had more uses other than being for show and lowering taxes.

So this means that there is such a thing as a 4 knobbed Syncro ????

I'd be happy with three knobs!

Looks cable operated, so could be a factory part to remove vacuum system all together.

Hi, i saw this thing working a wood spitter! Not in action was also a winch....

I never understood how it works, it decouples... I do understand that, but how does it decouple all wheels and then drive that thing?

Wasn't there a factory (bowden) cable operated decoupler option? I have read about it in a technical document but not Bentley.

Presumably the lockers were still vacuum operated with this option?

Good point Jens I thought the same thing ???? Maybe it drives in neutral as well as in gear somehow to allow a winch to function
