The annual VW Club of Victoria Day of the Volkswagen is being held
this year on 25 November, again at the Cranbourne Racecourse.
Last year was a bit of a disappointment for the Syncro group (and a
lot of Kombi owners) because the attendance was far greater than the
VW Club had anticipated. They had allocated a small strip, bounded
by a cyclone fence and an embankment, for all the Type 2's. This
was full by 10am and there was no hope of parking as a Syncro group.
Later arrivals of all Type 2's were dispersed over a wide area.
Several Syncros arriving later were sighted but we never did know
whose they were. Unless there are better arrangements for this
year, it will be understandable if there is not a lot of interest
from our group.
I have emailed the VW Club, asking what arrangements are in place
for this year and saying that we would like to park as a distinct
group, as we have done in past years.
Make a note of the date and I will post an update when I hear back
from the VW Club.

Hello Les and All,
Had been meaning to introduce myself and reply to your email re Day of
the VW from awhile back but my work schedule, life, brainspace has been
far too busy. Im renovating and extending my house(whilst working at 1
real job and 1 part time)which will be sold early next year and then
after some more modifications, tweaks, improvements and money spent on
the syncro will be off, eventually on a well earned(much delayed)trip
around Australia.
I have enjoyed reading the emails from many and have found the site to
be a wealth of knowledge and info on these fabulous vehicles.
My partner Ryoko and I will be heading out to 'Cranny' for the dotVW,
having missed it last year,so we look forward to meeting any of you
that do turn up and hope that you change your mind Les and come on down.
Cheers, Andy Sinclair.
P.S. We'll be driving the bronze one with gold lam`e wheels.
The 08 Day of the Volkswagen, Victoria, has concluded. Thanks to the
efforts of Brian Reed and Roger Bell, the Syncro display was very
successful indeed. Having a dedicated site enabled us to group 11 T3
Syncros, one honorary Syncro (Neil Smith's awesome T2) and Brian's T5
all in the one spot.
We had a prominent location and a display of videos and pictures, all
of which kept a constant stream of visitors coming past. In fact, we
were a bit short of space, which resulted in losing a couple of
Syncros into the general parking, but let's hope we collect them next
year.
T3 Attendees:
Roger Bell
Mark/Deb/Max Kofahl (NSW)
Gary/Angie Cookson and two kids
Theo and Christine Weiss
Everard Hoffman
Stuart Parry
Berndt (sorry, forgot his second name)
Mark Boys and son (dual cab)
Michael and Bill Roberts (Lockington)
Campbell Miller
T5:
Brian Reed
Awesome T2 honorary Syncro:
Neil Smith and Karen Hughes (NSW)
Many thanks to Brian and Roger for the organization and to those who
brought their Syncros. Also thanks to Andy Sinclair for rounding up
Everard Hoffman and his absolutely glorious GL Syncro Trakka.
