diesel bell housing

hi guys, anyone out there in syncro or t25 land who is selling a diesel bell house, mine is a little sorry with what appears to be electrolosis, damage at all steel bolts and studs, also the clutch arm is siezed.
either message on here or direct at kombijon@yahoo.com.au many thanks jon
Not many diesels came into Oz so you are looking for a needle in a haystack for that - but try theSamba.com as the Aussie Pesos is looking pretty good still and you can find almost anything on that site.

Cheers,

Scott

Jon, you may have to source one in the homeland...

Syncronutz, syncrospares but at least not syncro specific so ought to be reasonably priced

I have not had good luck with some of the vendors of parts from Europe on TheSamba.
One sent me a bellhousing that was cracked on one mounting bolt. After months of
phone calls, they eventually replaced the bad part. On another case, the supposedly
low mileage AAZ motor direct from Germany had bent valves on on cylinder. I lost on
that one because I waited too long to check out my purchase. Fortunately, I found
a local reseller for such parts. The sell T3 diesel bellhousings for $99 USD. At least
here I can inspect the part before I take it home.
Not sure what shipping to OZ. Probably about $25-$30 USD. Since this a non-profit
deal for yours truly, you would also need to add the Paypal fees of about 3%.
Let me know if you want me to get it for you so I will firm up the estimate on shipping
cost.
Cheers,
BenT
Hi Jon.

Believe I may have a diesel bellhousing I don't need. Bought a locking gearbox from syncro-nutz which came with the bellhousing attached. Think Ian said it was removed from a diesel. I haven't removed my old gearbox to be able to compare against petrol bellhousing. Have attached a picture. Also has quite some surface corrosion as you can see. cheers, erik

Hi Erik,
I might be mistaken but your bellhousing looks like one from a Wasserboxer. The diesel bellhousings I am familiar with place the starter in the 12 o'clock position. It is 2:15am here so my memory might be playing tricks on me. Here's a link to a photo of a diesel bellhousing in a T3:

No worries, Erik. I started to have doubts when I started looking at your bellhousing photos. My brain couldn't lock into the image despite having owned several diesel T3's.

Bent,

Thanks you are right my bellhousing has the starter to the right side not at 12 o'clock as pictured. Ian had offered to include a petrol bellhousing in place of the diesel one If I required it when I bought the box. He did offer to swap them over even though I didn't require it. Sorry I couldn't help out.

Erik, i think Ben is right. I have a 1.6TD and the starter motor is definitely quite near the 12 o'clock position. I can take some pics if anyone needs them.

Diesels were never sold in Australia, so I wouldn't even bother looking. Get one from Europe.

Diesels were never sold in OZ ???  we had 2 Type  2s in a row, still driving a 3  and I have a , I think it’s an AAZ engine for sale, 127 T ks, gearbox , and most of the gear for the conversion, which came from B. Jaeger. Anyone interested send me an e-m  hartis@live.com.au           Hartmut

Get more done like never before with Yahoo!7 Mail. Learn more.
One could get one from the Western US, closer to Australia than Europe by far.

I have one really pretty decent and very complete Diesel Bell Housing that'd I'd sell.
Also ......for fewer dollars, one without the cross shaft in it.  In other words, I can sell you the whole thing including  slave cylinder bracket etc,
or just what you need.
