dual cab rust

Hi, i have a 1991 dual cab which has rust issues. I need a new rear tray top. Can any-one assist with whether these can be obtained? I am also looking for a panel beater who knows these vehicles and can do rust work. I am in Cairns but am prepared to send the vehicle south if I can get someone competent who will do the job for a reasonable price. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

Lars Neuffer is Germany has a stockpile of original T3 bodyparts. Last
I checked with him, he still had some rear cargo bed repair panels.
Price was about US$800. That was when the US Dollar was worth more. He
also has the rear sidepanels. For that matter he has just any body
panel needed to rebuild a Doka. Prices aren't the lowest but almost
always in stock and very professional to deal with. He writes and
speak German and English which is a plus. His webpage is:

www.tristar-connection.de

Regards,

BenT
Thanks Ben

No worries, Greg. I forgot to mention that Patrik in Sweden is a good source for some hard to find Dokas parts as well. His specialty is used parts especially from the 4-door Tristars. His website is www.vw-tristar.com I bought a Vindic canopy, 4th door body parts, and some alloy gates.
Don't forget Mike Plompen in Belgium. www.busman.be.
Cheers,
BenT

Greg,

Since you are a brand new member, I will mention that Ben is a long-standing member.  He lives in San Francisco and owns / has owned a completely indecent number of Syncros, including double cabs.  Ben has probably more experience in sourcing parts than the rest of us put together

We do have to resort to finding parts overseas from time to time and this is where Ben and a few other members are invaluable.

Les

I love you too, Les. When in comes to Doublecabs, we are in the same boat as you Aussies. The T3 trucks were never officially brought to the US by VW. No doubt they were looking to protect the potential sales on the then new Mk1 Caddy which was based on the Golf and built in the US. There was simply no comparison to the T3 and the Caddies never came as Syncros.
Sorry for failing to make a proper introduction, Greg. I mistook you for the other Greg in this forum. Reason why there's a 'T' after my name. There's another Ben here somewhere. Thanks for catching the oversight, Les.
Cheers,
BenT
Thanks to both of you for your help. Much appreciated. I musy say I have felt a bit down seeing the extent of rust in my dual cab. But I feel better now having sen light on the horizon.
