Dubflecta

It seems alot of people are unhappy with their wind deflectors, even the guy who retailed them on this forum. How about some feed back. Are they worth buying? Do they stay in place. Do they allow you to leave the window down at 100kms+? Greg E
Hi Greg,
I don't have them but I've heard grumbles they dislodge and become a PITA.
Success or otherwise between vehicles MAY depend on good/bad condition of window rubbers/trims etc.

Greg,  First fitted them on the Doka (electric windows) and not only did I have to file some corners to get them (just) in, the window winders didn't like the extra strain on them. I took them out.

Next I tried them in the Trakka, they kept on falling out at the rear, never tried them at 100kph though, they possibly say good bye ...Finally followed Skot's advice and superglued them. Sold the vehicle to Jon (Melb) .

Btw the guy who sold them was super helpful when we experienced problems with the Post Office.

Greg,

Mine work great - even with my power windows.

I added 3 small drops of supa-glue and they don't move - even @ 120km/hr (I mean 110km/hr - I wouldnt do that speed - it is illegal!).

They are fantastic in the way they seal out water - great for being able to leave some ventilation when camping without the concern that rain will come in in wet weather.

Cheers,

Skot

Yes Ken I thought so too. But it seems in that thread there are owners with both new and old rubbers having the same issues. The guys breaking them are probably rough handed but alot are complaining about the things sliding down even with the new clips. Greg E

Hi Greg,
First I've heard of a set of retainer clips now being included with purchase of the dubflecta ... at least in the US.

See video of install of these clips at http://www.t3technique.com/accessories/wind-rain-deflectors.html

I wonder if the unhappy early buyers sans clips qualify for a set of clips?

Cheers.

Ken

All,

I have a set of these on my van and have found them to be a bit annoying. They end up sliding down (even with every day driving). I have resorted to putting a bead of black silicon along the outer top edge and pushing them back into place.. Seems to have done the trick. Time will tell...

Greg / Hart,

The superglue worked on the passenger window but I need to re-glue the drivers side as it falls down after a while. There are no issues with it falling out though as the leading edge is securely wedged in.

1400km from Hart's to Melbourne and had no issues on the freeway at 90kph. They did a good job of stopping rain coming in too when I passed through a short sharp shower. Haven't experienced driving without them but they seem to work well.

Jon,  you wanted to know in which mags the T3s were tested. Here they are, OVERLANDER 4x4 July 89 full test of the Tristar (mine).
OVERLANDER  4x4  October 89 Simpson Desert Crossing, the hard road west, ('cos the dunes are much steeper going West), Trakka and Tristar
are support vehicles for some jap 4x4s on test run.
If you can't find those mags ,I could have some copies made of my copies, courtesy of Bill & Marg.
