Front suspension lift

Hi people,

I've been trying to sort front suspension issues for a while.
Too much lift on Go Westy springs so my OME shocks top out too easily.
Is extending the front shocks with a collar/thread a good/bad idea ?What's the thread size for the shocks ?
I guess you would also need to fit bump stops to prevent too much compression ?
On a similar topic has anyone fitted poly bushes on the front suspension ?

As I recall, we posted some ideas about this. I found a fellow in the UK talking about using old beetle shock pins as extensions. Later I discovered my old pal John Wessels, owner and builder of the famous SyncroMog in California, was using the same inexpensive system for his Syncro. Judging from the sort of abuse I've SyncroMog put through, they must be quite durable.

Or you go the route that Herman from Canada did which is to extend the bottom of the shocks by cutting the bush mount, slipping the shock bottom into a longer tube which is then welded to the spring perch. Then he rewelds the bush mounts back on.

Sorry, I'm traveling so do not have any pics or links handy. Perhaps someone else can help.
