headlight upgrade

hi all,

I have recently purchased a set of headlight adjusters from Go Westy in the states as mine have seen better days. As i browsed their online store i came across this headlight upgrade kit..

http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=3093&category_id=294&category_parent_id=

I was wondering if anyone on here has purchased this kit and whether it is worth the $80..

Let there be light!!

thanks in advance

Tony (Ballarat)

Tony,

Headlamp relays are almost always an improvement on just about any vehicle, particularly Volkswagen.  Phill Lander has got comprehensive instructions on his website for fitting relays.  You will find it on:

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~pjlander/syncro2.htm

along with a lot of other very useful technical stuff.

Les

I purchased the SA grill and lights and the upgrade kit for it from GW.

I know the reflectors and lenses are new but I'm very impressed with the end result so much that I haven't gotten around to fitting my old 9inch hella spotlights back on the car.

I would inspect your reflectors first and if ok their kit is prob worth getting.

also there is a video available from GW showing you how to wash out your original square reflectors.

I bought the SA grille kit and "Hella" headlights from Justkampers, but haven't fitted it yet.

The spotties feature a larger reflector area than the rectangular ones they replace, so they should be an improvement.

I haven't got round to fitting them yet, as I figure it will take a while to get the headlight adjustment right.

I once had a chart showing how to align high and low beams to chalk marks measured onto a wall, after the vehicle had been parked on a level spot at a certain distance from a wall.

Can anyone help out with the specs?

Buy the way, I fit relays with uprated wiring to all my old bangers. The improvement is well worth it.

Phil. Your knowledge of the t3 syncro to the tiniest detail continues to amaze me and I suspect every member of the group. We are lucky to have you. Bill

Alf,

How difficult was the install?

Did you need to raise the engine hatch cut anything away - any gearbox changes?

Cheers,

Not at all difficult, using a t3 diesel bell housing,I had already lifted the hatch because I had a 5 cyl in before, may be able to do it with out , no gear box changes but I am trying to find out if I can get rid off the plastic spacer and fill the gear with needle rollers, I have read it some where.

I have washed out my square headlights, put in a relay system from gowesty and also better globes I got from autobahn. It has made an amazing difference. Hart really noticed it when driving with me at night.

Sounds cool. I'm wondering If I should have chosen diesel as a engine change as the required ring n gear change for diesel is the cheapest set available nowadays.

And diesel is good low down torque and great fuel economy and off tossing.

What model was the tdi from?
