I never cease to be amazed. The joy of fleebay.

Good find there Greg for those who need a replacement reconditioned VW donk.

They are such a compact little motor with A/c and power steering on them.

Definitely for an unknown engine - but if they have the documentation to go with it - it might be OK.

How much would it cost to rebuild a 2.1L donk?

Around that amount I bet.

So freight would be a killer - so you would need to be local to take advantage of any warranties the engine re-builder provided.

Thanks Hart,

I didn't look at the details as I have no interest in a such an engine.

Far to weak for my liking.

I would leave it well alone unless desperate.

There doesn't seem to be many that are being sold second hand these days.

Better to throw in a suby donk in my opinion.

The thermostat housing, exhaust, a few minor parts. They are interchangeable otherwise. Something like that would sell for US$500-US$750 here. However, dreamers aren't only in OZ. we've got a posting here today from a bloke asking US$2,000 for his 1.9 WBX. He brags that it only has 75K miles since it was rebuilt. In these parts, the average WBX headgasket a leaks between 60K-100K.

I have a 2.1 WBX in a SYNCRO that I can sell to you for $750 complete even with factory AC compressor, alternator, etc. But shipping to OZ will cost a pair of appendages.
