New Member........

Good evening Group
I joined this Group last night and had a good look around. Sounds like
everybody is having a good time. I'm impressed with your Cape York trip
and loved the pictures. We went with 6 Dirt bikes to Cape York last
year and had a ball. I'm 55 years old and I was the second youngest
rider.
I noticed the two wheeled Kombi on the trip as well.
We just bought a T3 in Adelaide and drove it back to Brisbane. After we
got it here we got it painted from Brown/Cream to Red/White. I will
post pictures later.I better introduce myself after all this :-)
I was born in Germany and grew up with Beetles and Kombis everywhere.
I worked for the German Railway for 12 years and had 3 Kombis in that
time. I have missed a Kombi for over 20 years now and finally got
something close. We love Camping and thought we should have bought a
Syncro, but we have friends with one and it is coming up for sale in
about 6 month. I'm pretty sure it will be ours soon.
We own a 68 mod Beetle as well and I ride a BMW Motorcycle all air-
cooled ofcourse :-)
We live on Brisbane's Southside and I built Camper trailers ( Teardrop
Campers) for a living. Got to Australia in 1983 and love the Country
and it's people. My wife was born in Sydney but lucky me grew up in
Brisbane.
I think that's it. Very happy I found this Group and I'm sure I will
enjoy reading the postings.
Regards
Reiner Gudd

Rainer. I just read your introduction as a new member and was
blown away by the similar interests of this group. I too have a long
history of bmw motorcycles, including a round australia trip, stopping
in cairns for a while where we purchased an old beetle for $200 and
drove it to cape york.Lots of beetles and kombis and then 20years off
to raise a family. A couple of years ago after an accident and no
longer able to ride i was very interested in teardrop campers and rang
aussie teardrop campers and had a long chat to you. Small world.
Bought a syncro instead. Sorry. Les the owner of this site is an old
bmw man and still owns a very rare classic. Anyway syncros, old vdubs,
horizontally opposed german machinery, adventure, teardrops, camping,
Thats life.
Bill

Hi Bill

I feel much better now……started to think I was the only miss guided camper/rider/driver J

Still got my Beetle and keeping my R100. My kombi is a T3 but not syncro, (I have to post some photos………)

In 6 month I get my hands on a syncro which is used as a bedroom on a building site right now.

I tow a white Teardrop with my red and white T3………mobile bedroom, kitchen and lounge.

All we need now is more time camping and less work.

I had a talk to Les and I know about his BMW, no wonder he is hanging on to it. The single cylinder is a wonderful Toy and everybody I know who is lucky enough to own one is not parting with it.

Call in one day and show me your Bus ( 0417726415)

Take Care and happy travels

Cheers

Reiner

Reiner. Look forward to it. If coming through Nambucca heads drop in,
most welcome. 0265685025. Bill. PS. GOES FOR ALL SYNCRONUTS OF COURSE.
Well, well, as it happens, I too ride a beemer - an 1150GS, gs' being arguably THE two wheel answer for syncronauts. I also still somewhat regret letting myself be talked out of keeping our beetle going many years ago and yes we've been known to camp ..

Cheers

Oh well I'd better confess too.

I like syncros, BMWs, beetles and camping. I'm a beetlesyncrobeemaholic too.

Have put many thousands of miles around Europe on R series Beemers and Russian Flat twin (DNEPR, Ural) Bikes. Owned an early DNEPR since I was 22 which i brought here from the UK recently. Too busy working on the syncro to put the time in to get that registered.

The rest of the world is wrong not us, they just don't get it...
