I agree that wheel carrier might work for some vehicles and not so on others - but for big heavy tyres on rough corrugated roads I this it would fatigue to pieces.
Funny how this bloke calls the transporter panel a Caravelle - very creative.
The T3 California has those Oettinger integrated fog lamps. I always wanted a set of these but the cost was too disproportionate.

If you look at the last picture in the following advertisement it illustrates the use of a bike rack as a spare wheel holder. Would seem to have relatively cheap potential to work well if of the drop down type with sufficient strength in the base either to carry an additional wheel for outback trips or just to locate a wheel too big for the under front clam.Would also need relocating of the numberplate. Not my idea but seemed worth sharing.Talking of bike racks thought you might also like to view the attached T3 Westfalia California that I photographed when in Winchester UK recently. (Apparently a German tourist but couldn't find anyone around in lederhosen.) Didn't realise Californias went back to T3's but liked the integrated fog lights and front air dam.CheersRoger

Btw Elke talked sweetly to Nrma today and got my Greenslip down from $ 580.—to $ 315.—she took that before they changed their mind...
