Nice!wonder if there is any of these here?
BenC
There is at least one WBX6 engine in Australia. It was on display at the VW Nationals around 1992.

This ad could be a bit dodgy.

Advertised as a 3,2 WBX6 but "The engine is based upon the well known 2,1 wasserboxer and boosted up to 2789ccm."

"I am selling my quite rear T3 Caravelle "

Yes it looks quite "rear".

Cris Band had one in a red van in 1989 when they were fitting out my van

He mingled it up with Beetle talk I thought,  he was talking about his friends beetle at this passage. Very ‘rear’ indeed especially from behind.........Ha

I just had a look and it appears that he has had the engine rebuilt by a beetle "expert" and has added a turbo to the mix bring power output up to 850bhp???

How on earth would a poor old standard 094 gearbox cope with that much grunt?

Mine couldn't even handle 147bhp (with my lead-foot wife driving of-course).

That middle of the fool's ad is about the engine builder he used. The built up engine reference has nothing to do with the WBX-6 which is for sale.

The nice thing with the Oettinger flat-6 is it is made of the same alloy as the WBX-4. Same headgasket issues from what I'm told. And you thought the WBX-4 was expensive to maintain...

BenT
On second thoughts I think It was a 2.5
John
A very badly built one also. I think that Mark Hammond rebuilt it many years later.

The 6wbx we have had for the past 15yrs or so has been a brilliant engine, it powers through a auto box and its a t3 double cab.......this engine block was cast and designed by vw and  oettinger themselves purchased all the r&d engines and parts ...there is less than 100 world wide. No headgasket issues !!! just bald rear tyres    steve
