Re: Re: Excuse for an annual meet

Guys

Last year, at the end of May, we did an overnight trip to Wheeny
Creek. (Sam, Mark, Ken, John and Grace, Murray)

Is anyone interested in an end of May trip again to somewhere
reasonably close to the Sydney Basin (ie, within 2 hours of most
Sydney places)... (Assuming Murray not going overseas!)

Regards
Mark.

Ken,

Due to the GFC the next long weekend is not until the Queen's Birthday in June, and I'm not sure if that one will be cancelled either as I know she is tightening her belt as well (as it were).

I'm happy with an overnight or two, could possibly make it Fri/Sat night somewhere, however, I know for many reaching a campsite before dark on Friday will be troublesome, unless perhaps a Scout has conducted some recon ahead and provided precise instructions.

The weekends in May that I can make are:

Sat 23rd
Sat 30th (and maybe Fri 29th)

These are the similar weekends we negotiated last year.

I will also look into some possible camp grounds. We could possibly stage on Friday night near Beowra Waters or similar (which is easy to find / get to) and then move somewhere more remote for Saturday night.

Regards
Mark.

PS - Does someone have Scott's direct address? He has the 2.7 Subie Blue Syncro, with Caravelle features put in there and a new pop-top roof I understand, and is on the Central Coast as well.

Download it here. The new Windows Live Messenger has landed.

Yeah it was just lovely really, if one has no qualms contending with 2wd
hoons patrolling in the dead of night on high beam, vandalised
facilities and probably a great meet place for local druggies. Too close
to suburbia really.

I'd prefer bush camping a tad more remote to get away from such
activities, make use of our 4WD ability to get there.

Wow I thought that where they found the ancient Wollemi Pine was
incredibily inaccessible country, except to a Syncro that is. That was
why it remained undiscovered until recently.

Mark,

Murray has had past dealings with Scott re this topic last year. His
phone number is in the syncrolist phone book.

Dates aren't usually a problem for me .... finding a hoon free 4WD bush
camp close to the Sydney region is. If it was my choice, I'd be heading
further out.

A possible single destination I mentioned last year (more a last minute
desperate alternative perhaps) suitable for a syncro meet and mingle
relax for the duration (no hoons) would be a rellos Hawkesury River
absolute waterfront property at Sackville south of Wisemans Ferry,
plenty of nice and flat grass to camp on, heaps of room for kiddies to
play, lights, electricity, toilet, kitchen, fridge, dining chairs and
tables, barbeque. Someone bring a speedboat and water skis and we can
ski the weekend away ... there is also a launching ramp. Only issue for
May timing is usual cool overnight and possible fog early morning at
this waterfront venue. Easy to get there. No 4WDing here though. Cost
for use of the facility would be we combine and replenish the owners
cellar or some other alternative. Maybe still a last resort alternative.

Gday Mik,

Have you looked at a map of Wollemi NP lately? Pretty big enough eh.

Do me a favour, take a look and while you're at it, pinpoint where the
ancient Wollemi Pine is and let us all know ok. I don't have a clue, nor
do our syncros. We were at Wheeny Creek, close to the south/eastern edge
of the Park, next to suburbia and in easy reach of hoons, vandals and
druggies .... that's all.

Cheers.

Regards
Mark.

Hi All,

Sorry for the relative silence with dates. Our diary is pretty fluid at the moment with various kids activities so while I’m a bit non-committal it doesn’t mean we won’t make it – I expect we will. I think from our end it’s a matter of fitting in with whatever dates suit everyone else and if we can make it we will.

Cheers M

Gday All,

It's now time to firm up syncros numbers and attendee numbers for the fast approaching weekend of late Friday15th/all Saturday 16th/half Sunday 17th May *excuse for an annual meet* to take place at Sackville, in outer west Sydney region.

As a courtesy to confirm the meet and to make arrangements with the owners of the riverside base camp (my rellos), I'd like to confirm things with them no later than this coming Friday, which is then only a week away from the meet commencing.

So please help me ... make a decision asap and tell me yeah or nay *before* this coming Friday, either to me at the syncro forum or to my yahoo email address. At this stage, all I need are syncro numbers and numbers of likely attendees. This applies to overnighters and Saturday day only visitors alike. Those arriving Friday afternoon/evening, please tell me that also.

Everyone is invited, syncro meets don't happen all that often so its a great opportunity to soak up a syncro atmosphere.

Once I have dealt with this stage, I'll be happy to deal directly with any attendee enquiries/suggestions/planning etc., as we get closer.

Cheers.

Ken

Hi Ken and all,
