Rear Diff Lock - Engaging and disengaging.

Hi,

On my recent journey to Fraser Island when I had my rear diff lock knob pulled my rear diff-lock light would go on and off whilst I was driving so I assume it was engaging and dis-engaging, any thoughts as to why this would be?

I have tried it in my yard at home, when it disengages by itself I can sometimes hear a noise like a bang.

The vacuum lines are quiet new and all appear to be connected.

Cheers

Peter

Peter,

Disengagement and reengagement is probably cause by a fluctuating supply of vacuum to the servo.  You will have to check the entire run of the servo vac pipes to be sure.  Follow the process in Bentleys.  If you haven’t got a copy of Bentleys, we have a member who closely resembles Santa who might just send you a late Christmas present in the way of a DVD.
