Yes - definitely interested to camp at Sackville again if Ken willing to organise and Ken's family would put up with us again. Ken?

I'm keen but it cant be Easter as we already are away and no doubt the weather will be horrible.

Have to work a few Saturdays over the next couple of months but Nippers finishes soon so that free's up Sunday mornings.

If the planets are all in alignment it could just work out for me.

Cheers,

Hi Bob,

Of course everybody is most welcome at our river lodge(!) .  Wait,    there is the however ! anyway, in order to be able to keep the beast Elke and  I  decided to kick the Bank Manager our of our lives. To archive this, we had scale down our living arrangements and move to the river into a portable accommodation  and that’s what we are busy with, we have to be out of the casa within 6 weeks, get rid of most of our treasures and move into 26 sqm. This suits us as we try hard to minimise our footprint on Planet Earth. We already generate 10 kw/hrs green electricity per day for which we get  $ 6.- per day from the NSW government. We are increasing this to 40 kw/hrs per day  soon.

So, the problem is the Bathroom/Toilet ! So if we could meet somewhere else until  we have built a proper “outhouse”  to accommodate you all  , this would be great. I could built a shower real  quick but for the rest it would have to be the shovel !!!

But yeh, it could be great to run up the beach to C/Head !!       hartis

one would like to think that the owners of syncros are a social group that likes to meet members face to face not just not press keys on the internet to socialise, so come on sydney and surrounds how about a few ideas on how to make this idea work, all replys welcome.

There is a caravan park at Gloucester Tops near Gloucester about 4 hours drive north of Sydney.  I was there some years ago and it was suited to group camping up on the hill and there were many varied 4WD tracks nearby on land owned by the caravan park and public land as well.  We could camp there in comfort with good amenities, go out for a drive and come back to camp for lunch and a swim etc.  People could turn up on a Friday night and camp two nights or arrive Saturday and go home Sunday.  I'm not sure if the place is still the same but I could look into it if people are keen.

Are you thinking of Riverwood Downs  on Buckets Way, just south of Gloucester.
This would be an excellent venue with both camping sites riverside (complete with platypi) a la Sackville and cabins also available.
With a huge games room and undercover BBQ, weather would not be a problem .
We had a Central Coast British Car Club weekend there last year and it was ideal.
They own about a thousand acres all backing onto the national parks.
Count me in on this one.

Graham,

I think that is a different place, the one I am thinking of is 30km off Buckets Way just before Gloucester on the Gloucester river but that sounds good too.  We held a Jeep Jamboree there in 2004.

Bob,

My sentiments exactly we should just be a virtual group.

Now that my grand kids live up in Coffs Harbour we have more reason
to go up the

East coast (from Melbourne). We can surely manage some time for side trips.

Cheers

I'm keen too. Depends on the date though.

We are heading up to Kempsey for Easter to see my new niece who should be born in the next 4 weeks. We were going to annoy Hart for a day but if there is a side trip somewhere I could maybe divert. Or possibly a trip that is not in the traffic @ Easter (sometime just after?).

Did that last year for the Kombi Club Bus Stop with a sick and toxic 1 year old - gee that was fun - not especially sitting in the Highway 1 parking lot for 3 hours on a hot day.

That certainly tested the cooling system.

Cheers,

We'd be interested in a Syncro meet-up sooner or later, but with limited free time it would be hard to join you up north, nice as it would be.
I wonder whether, eventually, people might be interested in a meet somewhere between Sydney and Melbourne, to maximise participation. I think Tarcutta is officially half-way, but no doubt we could find a more picturesque locale. Just a thought.

Well put Francesca, I also wonder if Melbourne members might be interested in a mini get together  in a local park. From what I gather from the register yourself, Brian and ourselves live within three kms of each other. Greg

Yes, a local park meet would be easy enough to arrange if people are interested. There's also Gary in North Fitzroy and Theo in Pascoe Vale - and possibly others from farther afield. The inner north of Melbourne does seem to be the de facto Syncro capital of Australia.

This has been in the back of my mind for several years.

The Melbourne Syncronauts have only one regular meeting and that is the annual VW Club of Victoria Day of the Volkswagen in November.  The matter comes up from time to time that we could/should have at least one mid-year meeting.  A member was discussing this with me as recently as yesterday.

We have members scattered from the far eastern suburbs to Geelong , so a meeting on the north side of Melbourne would result in reasonably equal travelling distances for all.

Could we have an expression of interest please?  And could the inner north members suggest suitable venues.  It would need to have parking for a dozen Syncros (let’s be optimistic) to park together and a safe area for kids with room enough for them to move about but stay within line of sight of the adults.  I would envisage a 10AM to late in the day time span.

Les

Great, there is a little car park just off Alfred cres in North Fitzroy. There is a gated play ground right along side and picnic tables. It is a smallish car park but if we do morning tea we should be able to nab the space before the uni students wake up at noon. Having just had our second child our weekends are free, is next weekend too soon? Greg

Bob,

My sentiments exactly we should just be a virtual group.

Now that my grand kids live up in Coffs Harbour we have more reason
to go up the

East coast (from Melbourne). We can surely manage some time for side trips.

Cheers

Theo
