No in-built instrument panel clock.

Picture shows what appears to be the instrument cluster model that came with a full size analogue clock on the RHS. So the clock has at some stage been pulled to make way for the tacho. Modding this way means ending up without any in-built clock in the instrument cluster, either analogue or digital. Bit of a shame.

Cheers.

Ken , would be interesting to know if the tach wasn't standard in a de luxe.
The engine sounds interesting, however more power more fuel ....

Hi Hartmut,
Concerning original official import syncros supplied to the Australian marketplace, I understood only the Caravelle model had the factory fitted instrument cluster model with the tacho/digital clock combo.
Meaning any other syncro model now with it would have been retrofitted after arrival.  Not so?
Cheers.

100% correct Ken, Caravelles and Tristars had the lot. When changing to an original tacho wouldn't it be a good time to fit that little clock ? Btw as i can no longer adjust the time on mine i will get myself a new old one in May when we go over to the old country.

Hi  Hartmut,
Cannot retrofit a digital clock into a standard Oz instrument cluster. Which gets me back to what I posted about the pic in the Muller van. ... shows a retrofitted tacho into the standard Oz cluster but no ability to also retrofit the digital clock. In other words, anyone wanting the tacho/digital clock combo setup, the complete (different model) instrument cluster needs to be sourced/retrofitted plus also swap into it your own Syncro kmh speedo.

It's a shame most Oz syncros missed getting the tacho/digital clock model instrument cluster as stock. Whereas for example, in USA,  they did.
Cheers.

Exactly right Ken. I sourced a complete unit from USA and put my existing speedo (KPH) into the unit. Just plug and play and the tacho worked fine. Only strange thing is that the digital clock went blank after about 30 seconds. Just recently it suddenly started working. I set the time and it’s been fine ever since. I then got a better speedo as my existing one did not have an odometer. So it just needs keeping alert to stuff coming up for sale.

Hartmut,

If you are going to the old country in May and go shopping for some spare parts for the Syncro, make sure you have the

VW VIN WV2ZZZ25........ with you, otherwise you might get abused with foul language.

Cheers
