Syncro Radiators

Has anyone bought a radiator lately?

I bought one from JustKampers.

Works very well.

Hi Scott, Did the radiator have any branding on it (Behr)? Also did the core dimensions match the original?
Phill the just kampers site has core dimensions if you want too measure against the original. Greg E

Is it German? (Behr)

Is it the same thickness as the original?

Others are listed as 42mm and JK says 30mm.

Is this for the syncro or the doka?  Just had another look at the just kampers one, it is the early 1.9 model (small size). You need the part number ending in E for all mv's and hot climates. The bus depot one is genuine behr for the same money. Greg E

How did you work that out that it was an A?

Greg/ Phill,

Mine came originally from an auto parts place in Tienen in Belgium - then shipped to JustKampers UK then to Aus.

I cant see the branding from under the front of my syncro and it was about a year ago it was installed so I cant remember what brand it was. From memory the radiator was more like $400 back then ($390ish) AUD. So maybe they have a different supplier?

My new one is 45mm thick at the base & side (that I could get to) and just fits in the space allocated.

As I said it has been tested for a year and works very well.

Remember the Owner of JustKampers has only just sold his mid blue 16 inch syncro - so I am sure he wouldn't stock crap for any T3's or type 25's whichever is you preference. He just bought a T5 4 Motion so he must have the same thinking as Roger.

Cheers,

Skot

I measured the core on mine and it is 50mm thick. Also If you click the additional info button they list a different part number. Not the A but 068 121 068 B/C? It will probably be ok in the doka but I would not fit it to a syncro. Best advice would be to order one from bus depot and take the syncro for a stretch, she can't live in that cosy garage for ever. Hence - same size.

Yes he does.

Some of his stuff is good and some is crap.

There are two radiators (A & E)

A is normal

E is for warm climates with air con.

I don't want to replace mine with a smaller one and I don't know how to measure the thickness.
Thank's Scott that's what I needed to know. Where did you measure?

Phill

Syncro & 2WD are the same radiators.

Phill,

I measured across the thickness of the base and the lower part of the
drivers side (where I could get to - there is a lot of stuff in the way).

The core goes to the front face flush but as the fan shroud is fitted to
the inner side I couldn't see that. But when it came out of the box it
seemed that the core was full thickness. It was a while ago though.

Cheers,

Skot

Phill if you remove the grille and measure at the top right corner, the top alloy plate will be around 50mm. Alternatively if you drop the clam shell the full part number will be stamped on the bottom plate of the core. It will be an E all 2.1's are. Greg E

Phill,

I measured my old one and it is 50mm at the base and the top - I re-measured my new one and its the same (just harder to measure as its fitted in place.

The sides of both are much thicker (around 65mm).

The part number on the factory old one is: 068 121 253 E

Hopefully that helps.

Skot

Bought mine from Van cafe a couple of years ago. Cost about $160 , is 50mm thick but can't find a part no. I do however remember that it was made in South Africa. Eddie.
