Syncro Spotted - Woodend, Vic

Driving through Woodend (our new location) this afternoon spotted a nice Syncro camper. Anyone on here?

Good spotting Jon.

Looks like its hip to be square 8) - especially that bull bar!

Syncros dont seem to get out as much these days.

I'm heading down to Berry NSW tomorrow in mine and I think Nils is too so at least that's 2 syncros!

Cheers,

Skot

Never seen that one before Jon. WA plates. Same hideous roof and bull bar as mine which came from WA. You will no doubt in time spot Eddies tin top and my camper. Eddie is a local and we have family and friends in Kyneton and Castlemaine. Gregor

Hi Jon, welcome to "Mexico".
We hope to see you, your family and your Syncro soon.
Gerald
Welcome to the Macedon Ranges Jon, nice to know there's another Syncro in the neighbourhood. I'm just round the corner at Mt Macedon. Eddie.
Victoria is soon becoming the Syncro capital of Australia!!
Thanks Eddie. I was cycling through your neck of the woods today. Very nice around there (the whole area is actually).

The van hasn’t been out much since arriving (apart from a few trips to Salvos picking up furniture) but there looks to be plenty of opportunities to explore some back roads. If you are (or anyone local) are heading out give us a shout.

Still haven’t found the owner of the Syncro from Woodend high street although I have spotted a white T3 parked up in a house near the Newham store. Could be the same.

Hi guys, that hideously square Syncro (totally agree but beggars can't be choosers) in Woodend belongs to me.
I live in WA but I sent it over for a Subi conversion and, until I get over to bring it back, my brother is looking after it so only a temporary Vic Syncro!

Andy

P.S. Don't suppose anyone in that neighbourhood has a more attractive bulbar for me?!....can't do much about the roof..
Hey Andy, the nicest bull bars in my opinion are the ones that take the vw end caps. Ambula and another manufacturer made similar ones. The vw shop in Campsie NSW had new old stock ones for $550 recently. Used they come up but sell fast. My van looked just like yours when I bought it. I made my own bumper and want to one day find a hightop or a genuine westy roof the shipping is the killer. Do you know anything about the mob that converted our vans called "Safari". Greg

Hi Greg, thanks for the info. No, I have tried to find information about the Safari conversions but have been unable to come up with anything interesting. Any chance of a photo of the bulbar you were referring to?

Andy
Hi Greg,

Safari Campervans were a firm converting VW's with a lowline poptop years ago. They also did Nissans and lastly Toyota HiAces, but

folded about 10 years ago.

They had premises on South Road, Adelaide

Hi Bob, thanks for the reply but this is a different mob. They worked out of Perth fitting these massive square things. They also did hiace ones. Greg

Here you go Andy. The other one which is similar has an indentation on the main bumper spar (ambula).
