The wheels are here

Hi wheel buyers

Francesca did a great job picking up the wheels from the port and dropping them at my place. They look great, everyone should be pleased.

They are now ready for collection and if anyone wants to do so during office hours i'll be here until Thursday before breaking up for Christmas. They can stay here if you can't make it until the new year.

Best wishes for happy hols and syncro trekking everyone.

Thanks, Gary.

Yes, the rims are here, but before everyone gets too excited, I'm afraid there has been a glitch at some point in the process. Once Gary and I had unpacked all the rims, we realised that the fastener sets and your brake cables, Theo, were not on the pallet. This is a very unwelcome development! I was so looking forward to getting this out of my hair, and to seeing satisfied Syncro owners driving off into the sunset with their new rims etc.

I can't apologise because the mistake is not mine, however I am going to undertake all necessary work to sort out what went wrong. They are on the invoice and paid for, but somehow must have been left out in the packing process – by Syncro Services or the shipper I'm not yet sure. There was no sign of tampering with the packaging, so it's highly unlikely the could have been removed en route.

Anyway, I have rung the customs agent who advised me to contact the shipping agent and the shipper to obtain more information from them. I'll keep you updated as soon as I know more. The good news is that the shipment was insured, so no one should be out of pocket.

Regards and Merry Christmas,

Francesca.

Hi rim buyers,

Ahem... I'm afraid I have an embarrassing admission to make. In trying to get to get to the bottom of the 'missing' fastener sets and brake cables, among the very many emails between yours truly and Syncro Services I came across this piece of information:

The bolts and the hand brake-cables will be sent from our place directly as we can´t ship them together on the pallett.

So, I will apologise for allowing that to slip under my radar. In an earlier email they had stated that they intended to put them on the pallet with the other items, so that is obviously what had stuck in my mind, and they were all invoiced as one job lot. Anyway, I've contacted Syncro Services to ask when they intend to send them. It seems they may have forgotten they were outstanding as well, as I've heard no more from them on the subject.

Oh dear, looking forward to a Christmas break! I do hope no one has been inconvenienced.

Thanks,

Francesca.

Hi Francesca

Thank you for your very hard work on the matter - your facilitation of the group purchase deserves a note of thanks and commendation.

I hereby move that you become official group purchasing officer!

Thanks, Mark. I hope you and yours enjoy your Christmas too. Christmas is so much more fun when shared with littlies, isn't it?

Not sure that I'll be applying for the group purchasing officer position just yet, but it has been an interesting experience. The rims do look very nice, though: good and solid with that reassuring 'Made In Germany' stamp on them.

Just a bit of an update for those waiting on their items - the story has evolved in a positive direction. Syncro Services did send the nuts, bolts and brake cables back in November, without notifying me of the fact. So, they're somewhere in the country by now, and I have a tracking number to chase them up with DHL tomorrow. They may have got stuck in customs, I guess. Who knows, might even squeak them in before Chrimbo (to pinch a bit of Gary's British English slang).

Hi rim buyers,

Well, this is the (somewhat baffling) latest:

I rang DHL this morning with the tracking number. Apparently, for all packages sent from Germany to Australia from November, for security reasons they cannot be air-freighted direct to Australia (!). So, freight goes by air to China, and from China to Australia by sea freight. Consequently, our package is not due to arrive in Australia until mid- to late January. It's not possible to track items once they are en route via this means, so we'll just have to await their arrival. I'll make a note to chase it up by the end of January if they have not turned up. Anyway, DHL apologises for the 'delay'. It all sounds rather bizarre, but there you go....

See you and Merry Xmas meantime,

Francesca.

Hi Gary. Agree that Francesca did a great job at getting the order done. Also many thanks for storing them in Melb. I am just back from NZ and will be in Hobart from 6 to 14 Jan. If it is OK I will arrange to get them up here somehow when I get back.

Regards and have a great New Year. I will be meeting a couple of Syncronauts at Harts before I leave for Hobart. That will be great.

Peter from Port M.

PS. Did not see any T3s in NZ. Just a couple of bay windows.

Hi Peter,

You couldn't of passed through Christchurch then?

We did arrive in Christchurch Ralph but picked up a shocking little Toyota rental and headed North as we did some tramping in the Abel Tasman National Park. We got soaked on day one but after that it was all stunning and we also got in a days kayaking. It would have been some coincidence indeed if I had spotted your vehicle when we arrived.

Cheers, Peter
