Top Bunk Bed details

Hi All,
Does anyone have the details of the measurements, number of segments and how they are connected, types of material used ie: timber, foam, etc, to make the top bunk bed in a Bronco Trakka conversion. I have seen the photos on this site but there is no other info on the above. I have never laid eyes on on one before so any info would be appreciated.
Thanks Dave

Dave,

That is my conversion.  I am tied up at the moment but I will get back to you with details.

Les

David,

This address is continuously bouncing.  Do you have an alternative?

I have just tried a test message from the group home page.

Some might wonder why I have made this change when the Trakka comes with a ‘double’ bunk downstairs.  The reason is the ‘downstairs’ part of it.

Long ago, I had a T2 to which I added a pop top, cupboards, stove, etc, and used it plenty with my lady and her two young children.

It soon became clear that, to use the downstairs bunk, every mortal thing had to be moved and repacked before the bunk could be pulled out and made up.    Every morning, every mortal thing had to be moved and repacked before we could even make a cup of coffee.  When you are on the road for ten to twelve days, this amounts to a very large amount to move and repack every night and every morning.

I therefore ditched the downstairs bunk completely and made new top bunk bed boards out of 19mm marine ply and drilled for ventilation.  This solved the pack, stow, repack, stow problem but it still cost a bit of headroom when the top bunk boards were folded back.

When I got the Syncro with full Trakka conversion, the same loss of headroom existed so I went to the hardwood slats.  They fold back into just 18”.   There is no loss of headroom and the gaps between the slats ensure that there are no condensation problems.
