Valla 2014

Have had my registration acknowledged; printed off Peter's helpful maps; well into the house painting despite Melbourne's recent unhelpful weather; pleased to note will be graced with the presence of some welcome old friends so very much looking forward to being at Sealys 10.30  on the 1st Aug. Even told by Joe and Tony will have an extra $550 in my back pocket as a result of their economic wizardry which is great for a bloke who enjoys a good laugh.
Haven't locked down my accommodation although the T5 is self sufficient so `will be keen to explore alternatives with those in similar position. Last time we were allowed to use the plain paddock (no power of course) next to the main Valla camping ground.
Hasta la vista

Ahh - you free campers!

May as well get yourself into one of those Wicked Campers....

See you up there.

Cheers,

Skot

Welcome back Roger - Ahh,

Thanks for the picture, my Van looks OK on photos - much better then in real life with all the dents.

Cheers,

Theo

Hi Theo,
Don't look at your van that way - the dents show its earned its keep and the enjoyment (plus a little pain) its brought you over the years. If I can get a "round tuit" before Valla, I'll assemble the Tasmanian trip photos I have for those interested. If you're not going Theo perhaps we could meet for a coffee sometime  and I could give them to you on a usb stick plus a few T3 left overs.
Skot I was going to paint "if the T5's rocking don't bother knocking" with a 6" brush on the side of the T5 but didn't want people to think I'd hired it from Wicked. Suppose I could introduce  a little creativity to my current house painting but not sure I would get out of hospital in time to go to Valla.
Cheers
Roger

Exactly Roger.

Your better half would ensure you knew exactly how much she dislikes any house laid graffiti slogans.

Best of luck with the painting though.

I said to my wife about 8 years ago that I was going to build the massive 2 step stair case beside our house and I only finished it about 6 months ago (it really only took me a few days to do it - but 8 years to get the motivation to do it). You cant hurry these things!

Cheers,

Skot

Roger,

Any time for a cuppa. Unfortunately I don't think we will make it to Valla on time - too much packing still to do before our trip.

At 70, everything seems to take so much longer.

Cheers,

Theo

Dear VALLAient Syncronauts,
Thanks for the pics Roger.
Hope we get at least as good roll up of Syncros this year.

I was wondering what the Rover Trail was like and did a Google search with: "4wd tracks near Coffs Harbour"
and up came this YouTube film clip:
Rover Trail Coffs Harbour - YouTube www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vKklZ5-Jd0

Rain would make it interesting, and I'm glad we don't have low hanging diffs, but overall it looks like a lovely drive through a beautiful forest. I'll be driving slowly to enjoy the surrounds, but unfortunately it will be over too soon.

Peter

Good bit of film. Does show the advantage of the T3 in not having all that bonnet in front of you. The ruts do increase my concern that my T5 doesn't have the ground clearance for this sort of stuff although I'm led to believe that if it did get muddy as long as 1 wheel has traction the computer will arrange for all the drive to be transferred to that wheel. You're right the time will go all too quickly but I've always found it worth grabbing the opportunities whilst they are available.

Pity my order for the following won't come through in time.

Cheers

Roger

Thanks for this film clip Roger, the Merc Sixby looks like magic off road.

If you want a Sixby though, Defence is progressively selling their Land Rover 6X6's off.
You could buy about forty of them for the price of one new Merc.
My main concern with Sixbys is turning circle and skid wear on the rear tyres every time you change direction
and that's one good reason why I didn't buy one.

I'll continue to enjoy the magic on the screen and stick with the Syncro.

Peter

I'm leaving cunnamulla this afternoon and heading home to nambucca via lightning ridge bore baths to sooth aching bones. Hope to be home in time for rover trail. If home early enough i'll take a run up the trail and report condition. Bill
Thanks Bill.

It should be quite dry at the moment - not much rain around on NSW Central Coast - not sure about the mid-North Coast?

Cheers,

Skot
