Weeping water jacket

Hi all,
Have been monitoring a slight coolant weep on one of the rhs cylinder heads of my wbx.
This only happens when the motor is cold.(standing overnight)
When the motor is hot or during the cooling down process not a smudge of coolant in sight.
Temp drops to about 6 degrees celsius in Perth at the moment.

Also having to replace my muffler very soon. The cat looks solid , does it need changing with the muffler.Any suggestions where to get a muffler or which on to get.
Regards
Philippe

I had the same symptoms with mine about 12months ago.. The leak got worse over a period of about 6 weeks..

Looks like your due for new head gaskets. I had new lifters installed at the same time.. I think all up it cost me around $1600.00

Cheers Tony (Ballarat)

Hi Phillipe.
Put the car up on ramps, or on a hoist, and check that the leak is not coming from somewhere else before jumping to expensive conclusions. Might just be a weeping hose or clamp.

The Cat will not need replacing unless it rattles or is partially blocked.

Thump it with the heel of your hand to check for rattles [not when it's hot!]

To test for blockage, check the temperature at each end of the cat after going for a drive. Variation should be minimal or non-existent.

Your local muffler shop can do that for you with the car parked at the curb.

                                                                                   Cheers, Roger Beetle Bayley.
