What does the wife think

Interesting topic on Syncro SA forum so I thought Id start it here as well...

What does the wife think about your Syncro obsession? Did she love it and share your passion for T3 Syncros from the start?

Or was "The Syncro" an aquired taste?

Does she complain about breaking down, fuel consumption or does it not even register with her? What about the fact you are always "Fixing it up" making a 20 year old bus better, more reliable. What does she say when you talk about needing big break kits, spare wheel carriers and decouplers?

What about other peoples reactions to your Syncro? Offers to buy from strangers or envy of other Transporter owners? Perhaps you have rescued other 4WD's with your Syncro. What made the most impression??

Wives can reply if they want...

My wife thinks I'm a bit strange to say the least. She often asks whether a new van would be a better, cheaper option. My "syncro" life in the garage & online is quite seperate to my family life in the home. I like it this way & it works this way. Although work & family keep me super busy, I think I'd feel lost without a T3 to fix or improve. Eddie

My girlfriend couldn't believe the places this thing could go and all the amazing sights she had missed out on bs ( before syncro ). Ok, I get to pay the bills and fix it. But as my mechanic commented while showing me a video of his new H6 Subaru syncro conversion " you have to have a passion or you die young ".
Long live the passion :)

My Wife Jeannie was a bit dubious about the Syncro purchase originally.
She thinks I'm a bit crazy with all the research I do online about the vehicle, parts and potential modifications.
She has however has warmed to my Syncro...
She likes sitting up high when touring and can appreciate the street cred it has among certain VW circles.
She likes not having to worry about stuff not fitting when going camping.
Also having her own little cubby to hang in when I'm surfing and the weather is inclement is cool ; )
She was a little freaked out on the first offroad expedition, but had fun anyway!
We have a new convert HA!

Hi Hartmut,
I detect a typo, did you mean ...
"Elke bought the Syncro for me , a year later traded me for the Tristar."

Hi Ken,

Can't make heads or tails of it….just don't get it… must be all those paint smells of that awful Dulux
I gotta use…Been always slow, but in a foreign talk…you got me cornered.

All pretty good here, almost all done, except for one large window which will get the treatment by
Laurie the window maker. House looks pretty good now, we will be back here early Dec and add some finishing touches and put it on to the market. See what happens.

Hartmut

ordered your M/C yet ?  What do you mean by NO ?? Doing more cost research ?? or what's the hold up ??

Meant to reply to this before. Partly the answer is "all the above" plus my wife refers to it as "my indulgance"but I think my problem is illustrated by the following:

I came home the other night and there is a note on the fridge from my wife saying  "I'm sorry its just not working. I'm going home to Mother". I therefore opened the fridge
- the light came on, the beer was cold - I just can't understand what my wife was talking about!
