Wheel alignment

Hi All

Does anyone know of a recommendable business to have the wheel alignment done in Sydney ?

Thanks

Ness

Ness,

The NSW members will supply names and addresses but be VERY aware that the wheel alignment of the 4WD T3 Syncro is NOT the same as the 2WD T3, no matter what some smart-arse wheel alignment places will tell you.  I will send you a copy of the correct alignment figures for the Syncro.  I have been having a few computer problems and I will have to hunt through a few hard drives to find it.

Les

There are three files  that can be downloaded concerning wheel alignment in the files section of syncro forum, at least one by Derek Drew.

Ken,

Thanks for reminding me that I had posted the data to Files years ago!!

Ness,

The pages in the Files section are copied from Bentleys (pages 44.3a and 44.5) and are the correct specs for the T3 Syncro.  If you finish up at any wheel alignment place other than one already familiar with the T3 Syncro, print these pages and give them the copies.

If you haven’t got a copy of Bentleys, let us know and our resident Santa might give you one for Christmas.

Les

Thanks Les and Ken

I haven't yet found a place here with experience in wheel balancing of Syncro's. Where do you guys have your alignment, balancing done ? or do you do this yourselves?

We plan to do some travelling so if it is out of state I'll note the places down for future reference.

I have a copy of the Bentleys manual, thanks for the offer ! :)

Got my wheel alignment and checked camber/caster at the same time after fitting new pads under the springs front and rear to level the bus out a bit (was sagging a little to the front and a little to the right)

Was very surprised when I asked how far out it all was, they said it was only just out of tolerance.

Not bad considering I put it all back together by eye and no measurements! With a little measuring could do it myself I guess.

All the suspension is still looking fine, so all the bushes and ball joints are right for a while

Bus sits much nicer now. Get new tires tomorrow, so hopefully it will feel like a new bus! Also replaced a few CV boots and all the bushes in the gear linkage. Amazing what a few simple tidy ups can do to the drive.

Still finishing off the wiring up grade to the head lights, am hoping this helps a lot also.

All going well we are off on a road trip this week end for a week down to Dubbo and back (from Bris). Taking the scenic drive back.

Spot on Richard. Those tidy ups keep our old cars on the road and working well. I put in the headlight relays that you can get after my ignition switch fused. A must upgrade and gives better light as well. I also put in two newer globes that really improved the night time drive.

Enjoy the road trip. Peter from Port

Thanks Peter, it's been a lot of late nights and hard to have a good run at jobs as I've needed to keep it drivable while working on it. All looking goof for a sat. morn. departure weather permitting!

The relays have helped a lot, have gone from 8.1V to 10.8V at the light (high beam, with engine off)

Made a big improvement in light. Have installed +130 bulbs (and +100 in the spot lights). New bulbs did not improve light much.

I would say lights are adequate now, certainly not great!

Whilst we are on the subject of lights, anyone running LED bulbs? Seems to be the future.

I have only installed them in the interior lights and reverse lights so far. To do the indicators you need a new flasher relay, and for the tail/brakes would need to some trial and error on fit and brightness.

There is a guy on the sunshine coast specialising in LED's, and is using them for head lights also,
