Provided its still the original motor, this vehicle is eligible for a one off only, free 20F3 recall (new fuel injectors, engine bay fuel hoses and connectors) at a VW service centre.

The various government instrumentalities that govern motor vehicles are thickly populated with creatures than have a strong resemblance to mentally retarded monkeys.   (Come to think about it, it is not confined just to this field.)  

An oversight or an inaccuracy that would get the ordinary Australian heavily fined or fired from his job has the opposite end result in such government departments – they get promoted!   The concept of being held responsible for mistakes simply does not exist.

Because at the time, VW decided that within a certain range of VINS, the injectors installed were believed to be suspect, hence the decision by VW to initiate a recall of those components I mentioned.

Not quite.

It was built in Graz during August 1988 and then ... voila! ... complianced 2 months later. Wow! Faster than a 2.7 litre subie!

Let's be kind. VW delivery and Oz compliance regulators were obviously more efficient back then.

Phill said "K" was an 89 build (Which I assume means actual late 88 build or after August 88) Hence my square headlights as compared to the normal round ones for a proper 88 build.

Compliance plate fitted 30/10/88.

Nearly 3 months. Plenty of time.
