Stuart's 16" is a rare beast indeed. It is one of the 2,180 Syncros ever built w/ the 16" option. Less than half of those are in existence. Being a RHD, I can count the survivors in one hand! Add the provenance of having been a consular vehicle (USSR, Cuba, then RSA), it is highly collectible.
Shame that the drivetrain is not original but it is close enough. Stuart saved this Syncro from the crusher where he found it sans engine and trans.
As BenC pointed out, it had an SA upper and lower grill installed (later seconded by Phill). Although, the SA upper grill looks "pretty", it is my opinion that the quality is below the original German grills. Once installed, the chances of removal w/o damage is low. Unlike the German grills which can be removed by the turn of a screw, the SA grills have to be popped on and off the clips. Said studs are not exactly well-reinforced. Don't ask me how I know. It's too painful a memory.;-)
Anyway, if I had the money, that Syncro 16" Caravelle would be sitting be to my Syncro 16 Doublecab.

That's a 50-70k vehicle by the time you get it home and sorted. Definitely for the enthusiast. Greg E
