2013 Fully Sync tour

Hi All,
Please be forewarned that I am considering the next "Fully Sync Tour" for 2013 (NOT next year) and the planned destination this time is Tasmania.
It will be held around the same time as previous Fully Sync tours which is about the 2nd/3rd week of January for approx 10 days. I will be putting up a yes/no poll soon so give it some pre-thought and depending on the feedback I will move in the applicable direction on this project. If positive then the booking of the ferry will have to be made well in advance.
Remember there is a time for working on these machines and a time to use them and this will be a time to use them.
Watch out soon for the poll !
Cheers
Rick
Rick,
Last I heard, Roger was considering a Tassie tour also, not in 2011 as he was too busy so maybe he was considering a Summer 2012 tour. Roger?

In any event, may I please raise for discussion THE foremost tour planning fundamental for a Tassie tour ... timing.
Is there the possibility and support for instead touring a month later, say from mid February?

This would avoid PEAK demand & PEAK costs on EVERYTHING, makes for much more readily available/cheaper ferry bookings/caravan parks regime, better access to free campsites, less congestion at tourist traps/shopping places/parking spots etc. etc. The weather should be much the same.

In my view both for the tour organiser and each participant, the logistics necessary of tour planning plus day by day organisation/execution of all aspects of the tour for say 6-10 tagalong syncros would be far less problematic were a  tour to commence mid February.

My 2 bobs worth. Anyone else have a view, please chime in.

Cheers.
Ken

Hi Rick. Would appear your keeping the syncro. Good news. On the fully sync tour to Tas in january, Ken has a good point. The demand for camp spots etc would make it difficult. Obviously many are limited to school holidays with kids. I did a lap of Tassy a couple of years ago in winter and we had the place to ourselves. A nice fire at night sorted the cold. Bill

Hi Ken,
Thanks for your input as usual, please consider not everyone is retired and has that flexibility and as Bill said some would like to take their kids too that is why I am planning the trip so early to get bookings in.
Also I will be keeping at least one of my Syncros I drove a manual for the first time the other day which was very a good feeling (though a bit painful).
Regards
Rick

Hi Rick,

Thanks for that. Ok no problem at all with your rationale.

This leaves open still the possibility for those interested to participate in an out of peak time Tassie tour during early 2012.

Any thoughts/developments on this please Roger?

Cheers.
Ken
