92 syncro panelvan

Hi all,
I am currently looking at a 92 syncro (ex telstra) for sale
with low klms loccally. Can you give me a bit of a heads up on what i
should look for as in wear and tear and a ballpark range on price. I
have restored several early beetles and kombi's but this is all new. I
do a lot of camping and offroading but have always had late model
japenese 4*4's. I will need it as a daily driver as well as camping on
weekends. All help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Aaron
Aaron,

Our members are scattered the length and breadth of Australia.  When posting a question like this, it helps to say where you are and where the subject vehicle is.  If there is anyone in the geographic area, they might be able to help you directly.

Outside of that, we have a number of members in various parts of Australia who own ex Telecom vehicles and who should be able to give you some pointers.

Les,
Sorry about that. The vehicle is on the central coast nsw. I
can't seem to edit the original post. Any help?
Aaron
Aaron,

With Yahoo groups, there is no editing function.  Posting a reply, as you have done, is sufficient.

Hi Aaron,

I have a similar ex Telstra van currently on the market in Melbourne . I’ve posted here before about it but if you’re new, it’s probably easier to see it here;-

http://yahoo.drive.com.au/Search/SearchResults.aspx?m=VOLKSWAGEN%7cTRANSPORTER+KOMBI%7c&from=4

I’d be interested to hear about the condition and asking price of the one you’re looking at. (Pmail if you prefer,  breed@bigpond.net.au ).  Note that for the $14,000 I’m asking, you are getting a fully reconditioned motor (about 20k ago), cooling system fully renewed last year, and earlier, new VC, CV’s and transmission overhaul, as well as an LPG conversion. That’s about about $14,000 of work over the years, let alone the original purchase price. Any of that that has not already been done on a vehicle of that age and history, is likely to come up fairly soon. As well, although I don’t have a pop-top, it has a comprehensive camper fit out.  Of course, it’s much easier if you find a good buy locally, but with the rarity of these vehicles, and the internet, some people are prepared to travel for a good one now.
