Hello all, I am considering purchasing a 92 T3 syncro transporter (ex Telecom)after having ownd a T3 GL caravelle. It has a great service history but has driven 300 000km. The top end of the engine was reconditioned at 270 000km ( a burst hose accident with little real damage but the owmer decided to overhaul the heads in case) and had been meticously maintained before this time. My question to the group is I am debating whether it would be prudent to rec the rest of the engine and the transmission. I am led to believe that it is best to do both simultaneously & that the reconditioning of a relatively good transmission will cost $12-1500. I am unsure what the engine reco would cost but have great experienced & reasonable mechanics here in Thomastown. What are your thoughts? and what sort of cost could I expect? I reason that the expense would yield us a vehicle that could give us another 300000km in syncro style!
