A Syncro Owners Rite of Passage

We can all remember that moment in our lives when we went from being a boy to a man. Usually called the rite of passage. It is when our dad took us camping and we caught our first fish or perhaps for some when we caught our first rabbit and then cooked it over a camp fire. For others it was when dad lent us the family car for the first time.
I can now say that I have have experienced the Syncro Owner "rite of passage".
On Thursday at 3.50 PM I was heading through town to do a coaching session with a new client. I was right opposite the main Coles supermarket in Port Macquarie with traffic everywhere when guess what happened.....the accelerator pedal suddenly went straight to the floor.
I knew enough about our beasts to instantly realise what happened....broken cable. My thoughts drifted to the endless yahoo group posts about the right part number before I regained my senses, put on the hazards and grabbed a guy off the street to help me push it into a vacant parking spot. There it stayed overnight.
I had a spare cable that was in my former T3 so with the kind help of Hart, who did all the dirty work under the vehicle, we put in the new cable on Friday morning and then went off for a nice coffee.
I now feel like a real Syncro owner. Next job, order another back-up cable.

Cheers, Peter from Port
Peter,I remember the first time I got the right passage too. When I turned from Boy to Man.Thats enough of that.
I have heard storys of passengers operating the throttle from the back seat whilst the driver took the controls at the front.I also remember someone on this forum breaking a cable in the bush somewhere and not being able to get a cable. They very cleverly used a lenght of wire of some description and feed it up the outer tube.I have also seen a T3 that was driven some distance with a rope tied to the throttle and the driver operated by hand.

Very discrete Ben. I thought of mentioning that other “right” but was worried the moderator might have given me a serve for being too crude!!!!

Anyway, there are some great stories of cables and it would be fun to use a wire with someone operating it by hand. Would be interesting getting it all in “sync”, especially when starting off!!!

The Group is quiet tonight, perhaps they are all watching Eurovision on SBS!!!!
