Adelaide VW

Hi there I'm heading to through Adelaide and a mechanic to sort out cooling system probs in the van.
A familiarity with Subaru conversions might help. Any recommendations ?
Pushes coolant into the expansion tank but was recently tested as not having combustion gas in the coolant system. Can't get it to bleed properly and then the thermo fan cut out after one of my bleeding attempts.

Made it to Ceduna so far what a trip..

But then we have these vans for adventure right ?

Mark,

I've attached a cooling system diagram from RJES.

Not sure of your cooling system but this is basically the same as the small car version.

I dont know any mechanics good with Suby conversions in Adelaide but at least you can show them this.

Have you had the heater on while trying to bleed the system?

Does your conversion have the heater by-pass system?

Hi Scott ,

thanks for that. Solved the bleed problem in Ceduna with $20. A bit of pipe 700 mm long and rubber to fit on the expansion tank and sit up higher than the front bleed valve. Fill up pipe, run with the heater on and hey presto all air gone. Known as the libby bong method.

Still have a CV issue from a dodgy mechanic. Minor problems now.

Roll on baby happy days !
