Air Conditoning in the Caravelle

Harray!
Finally got the air con. working in the caravelle.  After driving T3's for 20 years I finally got one with work air con.

First time I had my aircon regassed, it lasted ... ummmmm ...... about a day.
Next time, someone else fiddled with it and then regassed, it lasted ... ummmmm ..... about a fortnight.

I hope the gas lasts more then a week.  I put $100 can of Pro Seal in the system, which is suppose to seal any small leaks. I pulled apart all of the connections and checked them out.  they are all flared fitting so no o-ring to go hard.  we will see, could not pick up any leaks with the gas detector.  Took the opportunity to re wire the system as well, did not want a repeat of Les's trouble with old non stock weiring.

I've since smartened up. Wherever possible, simply avoid hot climate trips. Easier just to stay home and stroll down to the local beach, no worries.

A stroll down the beach sound good, but for me thats a three hour drive away.  I could alway take the Astra but it just would not be the same,

So is yours typically the "Prestige" brand air-con system ... the one most of us have got and they pretty much all are now dead i.e., won't hold gas anymore?

Air conditioning,AHH,just one of the many reasons that I am pulling the WBX out next year.22 degrees,windows up,and over taking traffic.Up hill.Cant wait.Have switched my a/c on only when I bought the bus, just to see if it worked.It didnt.Piddy my daughter in the back!The old Trakka windows in the back, dont work,Ive siliconed them up ,as the wind noise drove me nuts!Just one more Christmas holiday like this.I dont know any better though,when I was growing up,Dad and Mum threw 3 of us in the back of a T2 MicroBus,no Air, and flipper windows(call the authorities!)We did have one of those little fans on the dash though.VW comes down in ya blood,It makes ya tough.Airconditioning is a great thing though.I am jealous of all that have it.
