Alternator regulator

Hi Syncros.
Yesterday my red battery light was suddenly constantly ‘on’…could really leave you stranded.
For years I’ve been carrying a regulator for the alternator. A 10 minute job to swap it over, as the carbon brushes had worn right down. Now, no more red light.
A great spare to carry. About the size of 2 matchboxes.
Bosch, 1 197 311 028 (EL 14V 4C)…I think that’s the original part number.
Available in Australia…around $40 upwards.

Good plan Gerry.

When my syncro alternator died I managed to find a brand new one just up the freeway from me and managed to drive there as the alternator seemed to work above 2000 revs just not below that.

Helps that is a Subie EJ25 as there are an abundance of spare parts on shelves around Australia for those motors.

Another reason why I changed from the ER27 (no spares) to the EJ25 (abundance new spares).

Lucky to have that spare Gerald, and glad you could diagnose and fix it!
