Arrrgh the gearbox.,

Ok so I’m deep in it now. I’m assuming the sub frame that runs under the gearbox and engine from about midway under the van to the rear of the motor has to come off?

and it doesn’t support anything, it’s just a protection for under?

Never mind the previous post, I did get that sub frame off.

But, now it looks like the exhaust header needs to come off for the gearbox to be lowered, is that right? Bearing in mind I have the EJ25 fitted with Smallcar bellhousing.

UPDATE: I did remove the exhaust header, it was really hard as it appears the six hole don’t line up exactly with the studs on the cylinders. I reckon two of the holes will need drilling a bit larger for an easy refit.

Also noticed the header to OEM muffler pipe is not a good fit.. dodgy angle doesn’t really marry up correctly :-/

Hi Gaetan,

You are doing well.

I usually take all drive shafts off first and the sub-frame plus the gearbox mounts and pull the gearbox forward as you need to do to clear the clutch with the input shaft.

Dont forget shift linkage, clutch slave and the breather.

Such a fun job!

Well it’s out.. again, and boxed, on its way to Aaron Speedshiftautos tomorrow hopefully.

Wish me luck

Well done.

It looks very cozy in there.

Make sure there is a block of wood on the top so it wont bounce around in transport.

Worth the effort as you will get that box back.

I gave mine away to someone in need a while ago - cant remember who?
