Articulation

Was playing today, put each tire on a fork lift one at a time with a weight gauge, 600kg on each tire

Thought I'd look at articulation also, got to 300mm before the rear came off the ground.

Richard

Interesting Richard.

Would be nice to have a workshop with a forklift handy.

Cheers,

Skot

Yes after hours access to a workshop comes in handy :)

I have a new non VW project (because the other 50 projects are not enough), will be valuable for this project!

:)

Getting ready for a little road trip from Freo to Alice via the Great Central road then back via the Gunbarrel hwy.
Anyone out there done this one who can advise what the tracks are like ?
I'm expecting lots of corrugations. My experience is that about 28psi and 80km's is pretty good
for this stuff.
Been a wet year so wildflowers should be pretty. A few pics will follow eventually.

Mark
Looking forward to loads of pics.

Best of luck Mark.

Enjoy your trip.

Hi Mark,

We have done the Great Central Road in March (not in a Syncro) the WA section is quite good.

Mind you, a bit of rain and it is a different story, the only time I skidded sidewise - rather scary.

The Hema atlas - The Outback Way - was a great help pointing out all the interesting bits.

And of course same corrugation section, but all in all another interesting outback road.

Be aware that the garages have shorter operating hours then in the city.

Enjoy your trip.

Sounds Good Mark

Fiona who you met a few weeks ago (after she walked into your shop) and I are doing this trip next year so would love to hear how you get on.
On another matter do you know someone who could reliably do a freshen up on both our Syncro motors in Perth?
Hi Greg,

2 syncros - you're a brave man !
I would recommend South St Autos or Volkshop as they're also known.

They put the Suby motor in mine and are about as honest as you'll find.

Just bought a 100w flexible / removable solar panel for the roof to replace
the old Trakka ones which weren't working. 10 kg less weight to carry. Love new technology !

Mark

Thanks Mark

Any idea the wattage of the old panels? Greg
