Back on + WTD - Stock 14" rims

Hi All,

I've been off line for a few months, I've fitted the decoupler to my van and helped with two
others, all went in smoothly and are operating flawlessly, my van wasn't originally fitted
with a diff lock, I've recently changed the g-box to a diff locked one as well and had no
probs with routing the vac line and reservior.

To remove the drive flange from the output housing I made a tool, to hold the flange,
using a star picket and a piece of metal strip, using the picture of the factory tool in the
Bentley a a starting point.

I'm looking for a set of five stock syncro 14" rims if anyone has some I'd be interested in
them.

Does anyone know if the centre disc of the rim is the same or a different thickness on the
2WD rims?

Steve.
The 2WD wheels (14x5.5) were fitted to the early syncros in Australia,
but after about '88 the syncro only wheels (14x6.0) were fitted here.
The syncro wheels are made from 1mm thicker steel.

UK syncro Transporters have 2wd wheels and the Caravelles have the 6"
wheel.

Dear Steve,

Your email promps me to think again whether I need to keep the 6 repeat 6  14" rims that came with my 92 Syncro   as I am happy with the 16" rims on it. The 14" ones are stamped 6 J14 H2    ET 30  VW 251601027. 5 of them have Michelin X 205 R14 tyres with minimal tread left. All the rims are in excellent condition. I'd sell the lot for $300 or otherwise keep them for the time when I am no longer climbing every mountain and fording every stream.
I'm off to China on Thurday so you could ring my son (James) on 0402789387
if you wanted more information or wait 'til late Nov when I will be back.
Cheers
Roger
