Backfire.

Hi All,

Here we go again. After a few peaceful days in Redcliffe, the Van occasionally backfires and then stalls and had to restart.

It then drives all right for a while and I never know if I will make it across an intersection when the light change.

What could be the reason for the backfire?

Cheers,

Theo

Assuming it is on gas at the time? Either a vacuum leak or you need a gas tune.

Thanks Greg,

I had a casual look in the engine bay for any loose bits.

I will have a closer look tomorrow.

Yes it was on gas I will have to find someone in Brisbane.

Will keep you posted.

Cheers,

Theo

Greg,

Spot on again. Needed a bit of a tune-up after last month’s LPG mishap.

They let me stay and watch - now I know how start on LPG in an emergency.

Also replacing the spark plugs.

Went for a drive yesterday - all good so far except to say, I noticed one of the rear CV boot was torn.

Booked in at the local VW dealer - too hard for me to get the CV off the axel.

Cheers,

Theo & Christine

P.S. Christine reckons you doing a great job organising DOTVW with 3 kids to look after.

Glad your back on the road Theo. Cv boots are a constant issue. You simply can't buy a good one these days.
Thanks to Christine for her kind words, but with just Eddie and I, it is going to be a pretty poor show. On the upside for Eddie he is a shoe in for the trophy.
Happy trails mate.

If there's a trophy involved I might have to put the "mud shoes" back on so it stands out just a little & takes the focus off the stone chips. Eddie.
