Battery Retainer

Can anyone tell me, or better still show a picture, of the battery retainer originally used on the T3.  (I think that it is of the finger plate variety but can't be sure.)

My Syncro didn't have one when I acquired it and I would like to tie the battery down properly.  There are various arrangements that I can apply but they all involve drilling through the battery box, which puts the fastenings in the wetzone of the wheel well.

I also noticed for the first time that the LH battery box doesn't even have the stud installed in it, which seems like a silly build economy measure.

Les

there are a couple of variations of the battery hold-down bracket.

one is like a flat 'L' bracket ....and it reaches down and pushes on the lip on the bottom of the battery.

another version ....if you look at it from the side ..
it sort of wiggles ..it also reaches down and pushes on the lip on the bottom edge of the battery.

there isn't  picture somewhere in the Bentley Manual showing one ?

Scott,

I did search Bentleys but didn’t find it.  I can’t find it in ETKA either but that’s a bit of a gamble too.

Les,

It is a “L” shaped bracket – the part # is 251 915 313. You can see this in ETKA  by doing a search via this number.

Yurik,

Many thanks.  I am not sure that my copy of ETKA is searchable by number but I will give it a try.  If you could tell me what group it is in, it would be a big help.

Item No2. on the ETKA attachment.

There is only one type on Australian delivered syncros.

Great, Thanks Phill.  It is handy to know about the other fixings, even if they weren’t used in the Australian delivered Syncros.  The picture that I found is big and clear and I can easily replicate that fitting.  All this was prompted by the upcoming DOTVW because I want to stow a second battery (identical to the start battery) in the LH battery box to power the laptop, etc.

Maybe you could pick up a s/h one at DOVW?

And maybe I wouldn’t.  Besides, I want to set it up before the DOTVW, not after.  But it is dead simple to fold one out of a piece of flat mild steel flat.

Greg,

Thanks but I have already measured the box with battery in it and the stud position, so I have it all.  Just need to pick up some flat m/s stock from Bunnings tomorrow and it’s as good as done.

Oh well, just measured it in place. 40mm stock. 90mm from battery to bend. 65mm from bend to edge. Hole is 40mm from bend on the short side. Greg E

Pete,

I have already found a picture and posted it earlier in the afternoon.  Greg Esposito has furnished dimensions.

Thanks
