Battery Venting

Does anyone connect a hose to their battery vent?

Do owners leave the vent plugs in or remove them?

Phill
Hi Phill, Yes I have reinstated the main battery vent. These "euro" style batteries don't offen come with new elbows or hoses and most people don't refit them. Its a win win situation in my books to have harmful gasses and acid spills out side rather than inside. You don't want the battery tray of that beautiful blue beast to go all rusty. Greg E

Leaving one plug but have a vent connected because can’t sleep knowing the fumes disperse into my bedroom.  Hart

Sorry Phill didn't read the second part of your question. It should have a plug on one end and a nintey degree elbow  and hose vented outside on the other. Greg E

Where do you vent it to? There isn't any hole on mine. (both of them)

Well , Phill, between you and me and the fence post, I did drill a hole into
the battery tray. Didn't really want to share this with you, but you
asked... Hart

I hope that you used a Bosch, Metabo or AEG drill and not a Ryobi or Makita.

My Metabo drill 2speed is 53 years young and never failed. The AEG saw was the first tool I bought in Oz so it's only 30 years . Ha

My Syncro is a diesel. Battery is in the engine compartment. It's fully-vented, I suppose.

The Westfalia Weekender came with large vent hose in both battery boxes. This was a US requirement for campers. Not sure if they did this elsewhere.

BenT
Are the trakka battery compartments vented? Greg
