bits that break/wear out

hello, I am wondering if there is a list of parts that tend to break from the fact our syncro,s are 20 plus years old and travel over sometimes rough roads.
I have replaced, the plastic clips on the healights and upper and lower grills. I think I have read that the radiator fan comes adrift is that true?

Is there anything else that should be considered? Greg

Hi Greg,

Don’t think that I have come across a list of defects or even a list of parts falling off our Syncros. As with any machine of any description many things can go wrong and at times do go wrong.

The best way to keep these beauties functioning is simply looking after them. Spend some time under the beast with the Bentleys next to you and try to identify the parts you are looking at.

If you haven’t done any jobs on the vehicle before , it would be helpful to perform a few simple jobs like taking the rear drums off and checking the wear on the brakes, clean everything,

Adjust and re-assemble.

Also changing the fuel filter is a good example to test your skill level, attitude, perseverance....

Another past time  I  found, is taking the spare wheel out, you have to check the tyre pressure anyway, place an old blanket into the wheel carrier and spend some time in there looking around

And try to shake the fan motor with your hands. Don’t do this straight after you are coming from shopping, the fan could start at any time. The motor is that powerful it would freak the best of us...

If you run into any specific issues please make good use of all of us and please tell us a little bit about you and your Syncro and where you live. Maybe you could upload a few pics of the car?

Happy Syncro-ing

Michael,

I can understand the spending lots of money but the years of service???

When does that start happening?????? The wife I'm talking about - the syncro has always been great.

Cheers,

Skot
