BMW booster upgrade

Any one know the model BMW that people use the brake booster out of as a upgrade to Vanagons.
I need one as i just stole one out of my 81 dcab and fitted it to my syncro in order to get audi brakes working a little harder.

Martin,

Pardon my ignorance but would the BMW booster be an upgrade to the stock T3 booster or an equal performance exchange?
BTW, I tried to go to those photo links but keep getting this:

"Error 404 - Not found
Die angegebene Seite konnte nicht gefunden werden."

No problem getting on to your Turley trip link but not the photo links.

Of course you won't actually get higher brake forces, since that
depends on calipers/disks, but you get that very nice "feeling" of not
having to jump on the pedal like an elephant. The extra 2" just send
some more of the vacuum pump's potential to aid your foot :) Best
would be Audi brake upgrade AND the BMW booster - that'd be an
entirely new world and is highly recommended for heavy busses of all
motorizations...

Actually the trip was to Georgia/Azerbaijan, but i didn't have enough
time to finish the blog - still have more than 20 days in my analog
diary to rewrite for the web :/ Last entry on the net is from Batumi,
which is the first city in Georgia at the Black Sea after leaving
Turkey...

Hello Martin,

I see that you have answered my question from my other email. This is very good to know because BMW boosters are relatively easy to find in good used condition here. In fact I probably have some lying about in my spare parts cabinets. I have had several 3-er's. I sold all 3 of my 323's to the same person but kept all the parts.

I have my Audi dual-piston brake system ready to go on my Syncro 16 along with the 303mm discs from an ML320. I discovered later that a 312mm Audi disc will fit as well.

Thanks again,

BenT

having to jump on the pedal like an elephant.. The extra 2" just send
some more of the vacuum pump's potential to aid your foot :) Best
would be Audi brake upgrade AND the BMW booster - that'd be an
entirely new world and is highly recommended for heavy busses of all
motorizations. ..

Turkey...

No Jettas in Australia.

Audi 100 or 200 may do.

Or you can you to David Marshall's webpage directly:

http://www.syncro.ca/tech/audibrakes.htm

The rears can be sourced from the same Audi 100/200/5000. You will need to fabricate a mounting plate depending on which calipers you choose. The early Audi's had solid rear discs.

IIRC you can also use Audi A6 calipers up front if you are willing to stay with the single-piston calipers. You would still need to stay with 276mm-288mm Audi discs.

BenT

Of course you won't actually get higher brake forces, since that
depends on calipers/disks, but you get that very nice "feeling" of not
having to jump on the pedal like an elephant.. The extra 2" just send
some more of the vacuum pump's potential to aid your foot :) Best

Is there any upgrade that you could still use 14" wheels?

All I can think if are crossdrilled discs with good quality brake pads. Anything else is not cost-effective.
