Brake clutch fluid resevoir.

Pardon my ignorance but do the clutch and brakes share the same fluid
resevoir? Is the brake master cylinder under the dash and the clutch
master cylinder above pedals at the base of the steering column? And
lastly does this mean a loss of brake fluid will result in loss of
clutch pressure?
My son Max is currently on the gold coast with brake failure in his t3
2wd and i want a better understanding of the brake system before i
entrust a mechanic. Any suggestions of recommended vw mechanic. He is
on chevron isl right in surfers. Thanks
Bill,

They share the same reservoir in the dash.  If one works and the other doesn't, it's not a fluid problem.

Don't know of anyone on the Coast but some local members might have information.

While they share the same reservoir, the clutch feed is higher than the
brake feed. That way, if the fluid gets low, the clutch stops working
before the brakes, giving you a warning that something needs attention.

Larry,

Thanks for that piece of information.  I was totally unaware that there was a separate feed - never had one apart and thus didn't know.

Larry Thanks for that. Max"s brake pedal has lost pressure but the
clutch is still working. He recently had cv boots replaced on the rear
left by a non vw expert. I suspect the wheel nut was not torqued to
360 ft lb which if loosens can cause brake problems. Bill
