Camper improvements

Hi All

Long time between posts... Have been busy over a couple of months improving the interior fitout of the Camper - getting rid of the old narrow rear cupboard and building new cabinetry (with my neighbour Stephen) utilising the German Vöhringer Lightweight laminated Ply and Döllken lightweight doors (similar to the Rehau material seen on Trakka).

Have also installed Foxwing awning using modified Fiamma T3 mounts, as well as new Radio with rear camera, Inverter behind passenger front seat, swivelling front passenger seat using Justkampers unit, and an override switch for the solenoid separating the master/start and the house batteries. This will allow a start from the house batteries should it be required, as well as charging the starter battery when in storage. Also some new carefully placed cupholders in the doors :-)

The family will be heading to Gulf Coast bear Adelaide (Moonta) to spend some time with
Deb's South African school friend and her family and kids - nice
beaches about 2 hours from Adelaide. Going via Broken Hill.

Merry Christmas to all.

Mark

I wondered why you had been so quiet, now all is revealed.  Brilliant stuff!!

Hi All

Hey Mark, nice job. Is your mate a cabinet maker? Are you going to make a main cabinet to suit the rear? Were you able to source this light weight ply in Aust? I am trying to get a jump seat from the U.S. at the moment for the third child that's on the way. If that does not work out I will pull the current cabinetry and build a new main cabinet with full width rear seat. Sourcing good materials like that ply and roller door are the hardest part. If you get a chance I would really appreciate it if you could take a photo of the a/c evaporator under your seat. Is it just a car fan and evap or something designed for the purpose? Sorry about all the questions, but the interior is my next big job. Looks great, happy holidays. Greg E

Hi All

@Les - Yes, has kept us extremely occupied working down to a deadline...

@Hart - Streaky Bay is about 5 hours from Moonta - probably won't make it that far unfortunately on this trip - but you never know where the road will take us.

@Greg - The plywood is elusive, however, we discovered with the help of Jim Sebbens and some online research (see http://www.v-group.com/en/contact/) that it comes into Australia via Gunnersens - http://www.gunnersens.com.au/vohringer-2.html. Note Gunnersens will not sell it to you. We eventually convinced our local Timber & Hardware guys in Camden (trading as Mitre 10) who had an account with Gunnersens to acquire 3 x 2400x1200 sheets for us (it is 12mm ply - extremely light and strong). Prepaid of course before it was ordered in (!). Note, we used iron-on timber edging (24mm, trimmed) to achieve the look on the edges, with a little bit of wax to protect and achieve the right colour. The Roller Doors came in from Surteco Australia in Arndell Park - www.surteco.com You'll need the TDSLAT3011 comes in 2.9m lengths, trim to your own size and join together, along with track and corner (90 deg curved) track. Will try and get pic of evaporator for you

@Leighton - have kept the swing out - don't have one available sorry.

Cheers
Mark.
