Yes this one is really nice. It was up for sale about a year ago but he decided to keep it. I wonder what changed his mind again? I know they will have to pry mine out of my cold dead hands.

I think he may have been asking $19K but it was a year ago and I have trouble remembering yesterday.
I think Gary has sold his syncro (according to the Kombi Club site) it was at least a week ago that it sold - hopefully to an enthusiast.
Cheers,

Hi Greg yes my bus sold after putting it on the kombi club site. It's on its way to Qld by truck tomorrow loaded up with all the spare bits.
I'm very sad to see it go and frustrated to not to have actually finished it but not as sad as my 6 yr old who cried for 40 minutes when I told him!
I'll still be here and biding my time to buy something else just not sure what....

Yes this one is really nice. It was up for sale about a year ago but he decided to keep it. I wonder what changed his mind again? I know they will have to pry mine out of my cold dead hands.
Its not like the market has really improved.

Hi BenT,
Thanks for pointing this out to me. However the engine (AAZ) is a sought after one as is does not contain a computer, ECU or other equipment which are hard to fix when stuck in the desert. Bernd Jaeger travels North Africa for his annual holidays every January and prefers the cable operated injection pump to the electronic one. B.J. offers a change over inj. Pump on his website.
This sermon only for someone who considers a changeover to Diesel. I personally gave up on the idea because of age (!) money and my love towards the WBX.
Carpe diem and keep enjoying your Syncros ! Hartis

Hartis,
I believe the AAZ is a prechamber or 'indirect injection' turbodiesel. That makes it a 'TD' and not a 'TDI' where the 'DI' stands for 'direct injection'.
Sorry, just want to clarify in case some goes chasing down one of these engines. I own an example of each of the above. Whilst I agree the AAZ is a beautiful piece of machinery , the electronically controlled 1Z TDI is serendipity defined.

Hi Gary,
Maybe , if you would have put my AAZ 1.9 TDI into it, you would have kept it.... it actually went to Syncro member in Adelaide who stuck it into a combine harvester. Feeling sorry for that beautiful engine.
