changing gear oil

hi Everyone
thanx so much for all the help on the oil capacities and types.
this is going to sound stupid but here goes.
are we talking about the manual gear box?? not the front axle
differential??
my owners manual says frnt diff doesnt need ckecking or changing???
so i'm assuming, which i know what makes me, which is why im asking: we
are all talking about the gear box??
if anyone has a diagram of where tghis is the fill and the drain i
would greatly appreciate it heaps

Yes, we are talking bout the gearbox, not the front diff.  I will send you some illustrations.

Yes, manual gearbox. The drain is on the bottom, the fill is on the driver's side of the box about half way up.

Clean thoroughly around both and make sure you can get them both slackened before removing. That way you don't end up draining all the oil out and finding you can't undo the fill!

Front axle diff uses a different oil (GL5) and should also be checked for level. Worth changing if you don't know the history I imagine.
