Charcoal canister

Reading Peter's post on the fuel lines reminds me about the Charcoal cannister.

When I had my tank out, I replaced mine, and re-routed the suction hole into the engine bay (normally sits in the frame in the left wheel well).

I put a small fuel filter on the end of the hose to catch any debris being sucked in.

Given the engine bay would have less dust than the wheel well, and I do not do a great deal off road, the little filter gets very dirty!!

If you still have an original charcoal canister, it's sure to be blocked by now, and will affect the breathing system of the tank.

Hi Richard Just wondering where you sourced the new canister and the charcoal from. Greg WA

Thanks so much for all the wise advice Richard on lines and tank. If you make it to Old Bar would be good to catch up. I will have new fuel lines by then. I noticed on your photos your kit also had the new abrasion covers. Look much better than the plastic.

Cheers, Peter from Port

The top outlet is a different diameter, I used heat shrink to adapt back to the normal hose size.
The plan was to fit this and re-build the original. Still planning to rebuild the original one day....
Richard
The abrasion covers was a separate kit from Gowesty :)
Richard

Thanks for the info Richard

Regards

Greg
