Cheap syncro pop top

Not a great interior but cheap buying for a pop top with locker. Greg E

That’s quite reasonable given the equipment.  I wonder why the rear door is shown part open in the side shot but not the interior shot.

Looks like he is trying to show off some vented hatch sock.

That's exactly the same conversion! $10k more for 100,000kms less. I do like that upper bunk too. I could squeeze all the little terrors up there for a couple years. My ugly roof is a safari also, they must have made a lot of different types. Greg E

That's a Safari conversion from Adelaide, similar to the one I had '97-'02. It's a heavy conversion. Top is what Safari called "spacetop". Interior fitout is marine MDF, very heavy. I had problems with the top. Safari went out of business some years ago. They weren't very innovative. The Trakka is a far superior conversion.

Bruce.

The boards of that roof bed aren't very good either. I think mine were chipboard and buckled under the weight of an adult. Not safe! Not worth the $27,500 in spite of the low K's
Seems I'm the party pooper today!

Thanks for the info Bruce. Did safari only have a shop in Adelaide? The reason I ask is mine was sold and lived in Perth but was done by safari according to the gas certificate. Greg E

Hi Greg,
Safari Campervans or Motorhomes Australia were an outfit located at the corner of Marion and Sturt Roads Mitchell Park SA. They used a longhorn steer or cow logo similar to that used by RM Williams. That "Spacetop" roof was unique to them. I am not aware of this company's presence in other states. The brand name Safari is evidently used by other companies. I have seen safari branded campers on the forum that I do not recognise.

Cheers Bruce. I am guessing they or someone else using the same name had a branch in WA. This is the top on mine.
Which is identical to Rogers old one. Both were fitted out at the end of '92 and sold through Regents in WA. There is another roof that is very similar but not the same casting. Although it is a bulky and ugly design it is good to hang a fiamma off. Greg E

Thanks Greg,
Seems two companies were using the same brand name. Hmmm.
I have posted a couple of relevant pages from their brochure Circa late 80's in my Bruce M pics folder on the forum.

Cheers,

Bruce.
