clutch slave cylinder

Hope someone can help.
Really hard to get into gear when idling once moving forward gears ok but reverse need to stop engine then put in reverse before moving.
Mech wants to replace clutch slave cylinder, master cylinder has been replaced as was clutch with kit when eng was re-built.
thank you in advance for any help
Robert stuck again
It does sound like the clutch not disengaging properly. If you've changed the master cylinder it is probably worthwhile changing the slave cylinder anyway (maybe just seals if you can get them).

He should be able to see if it is leaking but they usually operate correctly until the seal gives out and then they fail instantly.

Has it been bled properly?

Clutch basket possibly worn???? they said cheapest way out of doing something was doing what they did extending push rod. to their credit the van does run now and goes into gear no worries, any other problems they reckon i will need to replace clutch again...Do you know is 25,000k's alot for a clutch normal driving.

Robert,

Extending the rod is a standard method of regaining motion lost through wear.

If you are driving normally and not abusing the clutch, it should see 100,000 km without any problem.
