Hi Syncronauts,
For the last 7 months my Syncro always wanted to cut out on a cold start.
To get around it I played with the pedal for a minute or two, then it would go fine.
I gave it to a local mechanic…he had it a few times, but couldn’t nail it.
He (and I) swapped many parts…AFM, temp sender, checked the fuel pressure, checked the timing and swapped other parts as well…no change.
He thought it might be the Throttle Body…but unsure.
I ordered the GoWesty Throttle Body…it took 9 weeks via USPS…amazing.
I took it to a VW repair shop…he installed the new Throttle Body…voila…it has been 3 weeks and it holds idle, and doesn’t cut out anymore.
This has worked for me…happy days.
Hopefully this might help other Syncro owners in the future.
Gerald.
Great stuff Gerry.
Nils does rebuilt throttle bodies and I know he picked up a few more from Canberra way this weekend to rebuild.
If anyone needs one he is a member on here.
Well done, love to hear those success stories
Great to hear Gerald.
Interesting after out last discussion, my van has on occasion stalled immediately on start up also. Still trying to track this down. For me it is only occasionally and if I just touch the throttle (not enogh to trip the switch) it will not stall, and I only need to wait a few seconds and it will idle fine. I’ve looked at a few of the common things, throttle body, switch on the throttle body, ait flow meter.
I though it may be the idle control valve, but this seems to function fine.
I have yet to check, but wonder if the temp sender is out when cold, or possibly a minor vacuum leak.
I’m guessing as we go into winter, if it becomes more regular I can look into this a little closer.
I really need to spend the time and get my “shoebox” electronic gizmo hooked up!
Well, well, well … who’d have thought!
Congrats Gerry … PPPP … persistence produced positive product.
Add this to our Oz knowledge base eh … thank you.
